What Happens During a Coaching Session?
If you've never worked with a coach before, it's natural to wonder what a session is actually like. With that said, my sessions are probably a little different than what you might expect.
You might wonder if you need to have a clear goal, how much I'll guide the conversation, what happens if you cry, or what we'll do if you don't know where to begin.
You don't need to have anything figured out before you arrive. You simply need a willingness to show up with openness and curiosity. The rest, we'll discover together.
We Begin Where You Are
I believe that you are the expert on your own life. My role isn't to provide all the answers, but to help you uncover the wisdom, strengths, and clarity that already exist within you.
Every session begins with a conversation. "What's been on your mind?" or "What feels most important today?"
Sometimes clients arrive with a very specific challenge—a parenting struggle or goal, a difficult relationship, a troublesome pattern, a life transition, or a decision they need to make.
Other times, they might feel overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or exhausted but can't quite put words to it yet.
I listen deeply, ask thoughtful questions, offer observations, and create space for you to discover your own insights and inner wisdom.
Every Session Is Different
Because every person is different, no two sessions are exactly alike.
Depending on what you're navigating, we may explore:
Parenting challenges and family dynamics and relationships
Life transitions and identity shifts
Stress, burnout, and overwhelm
Limiting beliefs and recurring patterns
Boundaries and communication
Nervous system regulation
Mindfulness and self-compassion
Grief, loss, or anticipatory grief
Values, purpose, and what matters most
Rather than following a rigid formula, each session is tailored to your needs and goals.
While conversation is at the heart of it, we may also incorporate practices that help you move beyond thinking and into experiencing.
That might include:
Mindfulness or guided meditation
Movement, somatic awareness, and nervous system regulation
Reflective exercises or journaling
Values clarification
Attachment-informed exploration
Depending on your interests and comfort level, we may also incorporate Reiki, essential oils, crystals, or sound healing to deepen relaxation and support the work we're doing together.
These practices help you slow down, tune in, and hear yourself more clearly.
What You Can Expect
Whether we're talking about parenting, relationships, grief, wellness, or a season of change, my intention is always the same: to offer calm, compassionate support where you feel seen, heard, and understood—a place where you can slow down, reconnect with yourself, and discover what feels true for you.
Laughter, tears, anger, silence, uncertainty, and moments of insight are all welcome. You don't have to edit yourself or have everything figured out. You get to come exactly as you are. Together, we'll create space for the clarity, confidence, and self-trust that allow meaningful, lasting change to unfold.
My hope is that when you leave each session, you don't just leave feeling a little steadier and with new ideas—you leave with a deeper connection to yourself and a renewed trust in the wisdom that has been within you all along.
